AN OVERVIEW – costa blanca walking & hiking holidays

The North Costa Blanca has some of the best walking and hiking routes and trails in the whole of Spain. Located in Alicante Province, the Costa Blanca is a breathtaking region where coastal paths follow cliff-backed coves, sandy beaches and rocky bays, and woodland mountain trails quickly reach summits of 1,400m (4,600 feet) in elevation with the most stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the numerous villages dotted along the valley floors.

From our beautiful hotel in the heart of Javea (Xabia) old town, you have access to some of the most stunning hiking trails that Spain’s Costa Blanca offers, including the Mount Montgó Summit Trails, the Benissa Coastal Walk, Peñon de Ifach (Calpe Rock) Summit, Sierra Bernia Ridge Loop Trail, Guadalest to Altea trail, Sierra Helada Benidorm Ridge Trail, Puig Campana Summit and Loop Trails, and the Sierra Aitana Loop. Just ask us for information on routes to match your group’s requirements.

We have been providing a range of flexible tailored activity holidays including hiking holidays, walking breaks, cycling holidays, and mountain biking on the Costa Blanca to our guests since the company was launched in 2018. We have our own guest house accommodation in Javea (Xabia), our own vehicles for transport to and from the airports and to walking destinations, experienced guides who know all the best trails and tracks, and catering facilities enabling us to create the perfect packaged hiking or mixed activity holidays for you.

OUR BOUTIQUE ACCOMMODATION

The boutique hotel accommodation is run personally by the Blanca team and has been designed to offer walkers and hikers a relaxing haven in the heart of the action. All rooms have been individually designed and only recently fully refurbished, combining a mix of traditional Spanish charm with modern luxury. Whether you’re here for a short walking break or a longer, more intense group hiking holiday, the Blanca boutique accommodation and Javea (Xabia) won’t leave you disappointed.

OUR LOCATION

Javea (Xabia) really is in the heart of Costa Blanca’s hiking country. Towns like Benidorm and Calpe might be more famous, but this is not because they are a better place to stay, it’s to do with the surplus of out-of-season large hotel accommodation. If you want year-round charm, and a walking holiday to remember with the best trails and network of pathways on your doorstep, then you should choose Javea (Xabia) and book your walking holiday directly with us at Blanca.

We are located just seconds from the charming historical streets of Javea (Xabia) old town and the San Bartolomé Church. Just metres away, you will find some of the best Tapas restaurants nestled down the idyllic bustling streets, perfect for a vino or beer after a long day’s hiking around the beautiful countryside of the Costa Blanca.

ALICANTE & VALENCIA AIRPORT TRANSFERS

Our hiking holiday packages include private transfers from Alicante or Valencia airports (unless you opt to hire your own car at Alicante or Valencia airports). Most of our guests fly into Alicante but we do have the option to pick you up from Valencia airport if you wish. We own our own transport vehicles so can be flexible with your requirements if you notify us in advance of any special requests. After booking, we will give you detailed information about your pickup point at the airport, but if you haven’t flown to Alicante airport before, it’s very straightforward. After picking up your luggage, you simply exit the luggage hall and go down a level to a pickup/drop-off point for all buses and coaches. The bays are numbered, and we will confirm this with you when we have your flight details.

DAILY ROUTE PLANNING
AND GUIDING

Enquire Now

We can provide experienced guides to help you get the most out of your walking holiday here on the Costa Blanca. The guides have extensive knowledge of the area and can guide you on routes to suit the group’s capabilities, we can also plan routes to include lunch stops at local restaurants or to take in some of the local villages.

We are also mindful of the changing weather, especially during the winter months, so will plan routes accordingly. We get together in the evening to discuss the following day’s route and make sure every member of the group is fully briefed and comfortable with the chosen route.

TRANSPORT 7 PICK UP FOR DAILY WALKS

Whilst there are beautiful walks straight from the hotel, including the walk to explore the historic windmills of Jávea, many of the best trails require a short drive. We can provide local knowledge if you have your own transport or can take you to the start point of the walk and arrange a pick-up location and time to bring you back to our hotel in Javea.

PACKED LUNCHES, DRINKS, AND SNACKS

Some of the more remote mountain tracks won’t have a café/restaurant along the route so you will need to take enough food and drink with you for the full day. We can provide complete packed lunches, drinks, and snacks for your group and have these ready for your departure. Please contact us with details of your requirements and we can arrange this for you.

DRYING FACILITIES

Yes, unfortunately, it does occasionally rain, even here on the Costa Blanca. The last thing you want is to be putting on wet clothes the following day after a sudden downpour, but don’t worry, we have drying facilities to make sure your walking gear is dry, and you are ready for when the sun shines again.

SHORT BREAKS & HOLIDAYS

Our hiking holidays are available for different durations. Standard packages are offered as 3-day weekends, 4-day midweek breaks, and 7, 10, and 14-day holidays, however, because we own our hotel/guest house accommodation and all the infrastructure, we can be as flexible as you want and can put together bespoke walking/hiking holiday packages covering most combinations of dates, including various elements such as guided tours and transfers and can cater for 2 guests up to 20 or more. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask us!

Individuals, Groups, and Clubs

The way the hotel is designed and how we create our hiking holiday packages means we can offer holidays for individuals, couples, small groups, or entire walking clubs. Many of the elements of your package such as lunches are priced per person whilst other elements such as hiring a guide are a flat fee for the group. We can therefore offer discounts per person based on larger groups, and we can also accommodate those wishing to have a room on their own by including a single room supplement without any further increase in costs.

Costa Blanca Mountains for the more adventurous hiker

The Costa Blanca is a fantastic place for a walking holiday. There are literally thousands of KMs of easy-to-follow marked trails along the costs, through the numerous parks and also along valleys such as from Jalon to Parcent which will keep most people occupied for a 2 week holiday. However, if you are more adventurous there are many well-marked hiking routes that will take you to the top of Costa Blanca’s most famous mountains that you can see as you travel around the area; Alicante Province has over fifty mountain peaks over 1,000 metres high (that’s 50 peaks more than in England!).

These peaks make up part of the Betic System, one of the major mountain ranges in Spain. The best-known summits and ridges include Sierra Aitana (1,550 m), Puig Campana (1,436 m above sea level), Mount Montgó in Dénia which has views to the island of Ibiza on a clear day, Sierra Bernia and the ancient fort, and Ifach Rock in Calpe.

We just rent two bikes there for two days. They were to be honest not the cheapest, but made the most professional impression. But 1st, the bikes are really not comparable to the ones from competitors as they're much better. And 2nd they delivered with service. From the first contact which was very responsive and nice, over issues that we faced during the rental (flat tire, can happen) they handed us a self repair kit upfront and were always there and assisted us. As they have multiple shops nearby, you could also step in there if you face issues during your ride. Totally recommend them.

Fantastic 3 night stay with my son at the Blanca Bikes accomodation in Javea. Comfortable room, great breakfast to fuel up for start of day. Well maintained bikes ready when we arrived along with route suggestions from Luke. Could not have been easier arranging transfers from Alicante, accomodation and bikes for the short getaway - one stop shop - thanks to Heidi and team. We will be back!

There's only so long you can ride the same old wrecked roads in the same grim winter weather, so Blanca Bikes offered a chance to escape Glasgow. Run by a former Scottish racer and staffed with people who know what bike riders are looking for, it's a great set-up in the old part of Javea, close to great food spots. From quality Cervelo bike hire to a big breakfast, an airy room and route advice or guiding, you're not left wanting for anything. I was left wondering why it's taken me so long to get to the Costa Blanca and see how incredibly slow I am compared to Tadej Pogacar on the coll de Rates. Can't be beaten – Blanca bikes, not Pogacar...

Rented three Cervélo road bikes from Blanca Bikes for a cycling trip to Calpe and couldn’t have been happier with the experience. All the bikes were in excellent condition — clearly well maintained and ready to ride straight away. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and genuinely helpful throughout. Special shout‑out to Richard, who sorted me out with a couple of cleat bolts and made a few tweaks to my bike setup that made a real difference. We also visited their café in Parcent, which is absolutely worth the stop if you’re heading over to the Col de Rates. Great coffee, tasty sandwiches, and loads of outdoor space to relax in before or after the climb. Highly recommended for both bike hire and a great café stop.
